I will mentor you through your 20th trip and answer your question just like my friend helped me.

After you drive your 20th trip eureka, we both  receive a cash reward of $300 dropped into our bank accounts.

I will mentor you through your first 20 rides to help give you the tools and confidence you need succeed at Uber. In fact, why not exceed your wildest expectations? I did.

My first ride was my hardest ride. I was on unfamiliar roads and the passenger I picked up was tired and curt. I forgot to turn on the start ride meter on the Uber app and he didn’t like Uber’s chosen GPS  route. As a woman I was a bit afraid to be driving out of town on that long lonesome road with a total stranger. I got him home. It didn’t flow, he wasn’t very nice and I’m pretty sure my first rating was a 2.0 out of 5.0 at best. I’ve learned a lot since then.

Lucky my Uber mentor and dear friend Marty calmed me down and showed me the ropes or I might have quit after my first ride. In fact, a certain percentage of people never get to their 20th ride because of a variety reasons.

About a month later I finished my 20th ride although now I can do 20 rides a day. By this time I have done hundreds and hundreds of great rides and met new friends and I consistently more than triple the average Uber driver’s hourly wage according to Uber’s own records as captured in the link to a blog where I discuss how.

Happy Driving!

Incentive vs enabling

discourage-encourage325Hi Uber friends,

Many people ask me to give these tips to them for free or at least one tip for free…because they have already signed up and they are only making $11 – $15 per hour.

I thought to ask you my friends and especially female drivers what would be a fair exchange for this knowledge? I accept trade and mutual links and stuff like that. New tips are especially welcomed and if they are new they will surely be worth more than a single traded tip of mine.  You gotta keep learning to keep earning! Shout out to Uber Driver Bruce Roseman – one of my early mentors and the source of some of my best tips!

What to do with naughty riders

All night drivers face at least a few generally not good pax* who scares you in some unsafe or unsavory way. Here is a trick I learned that I have yet to use but it would work and I respect it as a trick so I am sharing.

Stop your car, make the rider get out. Drive 500 feet forward…or far enough so they have to walk far to get to you. Wait till they hail another Uber. It will be you. Accept. Text them and let them know it is still you. Tell them to either cancel the trip or respect your safety. If they cancel you can’t get rated by them and you get the $5 for their cancellation. If they comply you can either drive back or let them come to you and sober up a little on the way. Repeat until compliant and expect a bad rating – you were gonna get one anyway.

* Pax is the way Uber drivers refer to passengers.

An Uber ounce of prevention – carry ziplock barf bags

People always ask me to tell them the stories of the worst rides I ever had. Honestly, I don’t get a lot of bad rides but almost every weekend someone needs a zip lock barf bag. This happens so often that I wonder why Uber doesn’t actually give them to drivers. The associated: wet ones, tissues and mints also help. I carry Lysol spray and Windex wipes too. Of course we all know that if someone pukes in your car you immediately stop, take pictures and send them to Uber for your $100 reimbursement on cleaning and that that fee gets passed on to the offending rider but unless you only make $100 a night you’d better hope it happens late in the night because it ends your driving for that night unless you live in a town with a 24 hour car wash.

Governments and drug companies are loath to fund the research
needed to bring the drug into general use. Israel offers ideal
conditions for such research.

The success of the Volcano Medic program has demonstrated what a handful of compassionate and entrepreneurial individuals can accomplish with persistence. Because private industry, public bureaucracy, insurance companies, generous foundations and concerned citizens were able to come together to work out solutions, sensitive patients now have access to advanced and affordable care.
